Coming on the heels of the 60th anniversary of the founding of our company in 2013, I was appointed on April 1, 2014 to become the third president of MPP KOMATSU. I would like to state my heartfelt gratitude to my predecessor presidents, and to all employees to date, for building up the company to this time, and express my respects. Now I am resolved to look forward to the upcoming 100-year anniversary, to firmly seize the baton and convey it to the next generation for these next 40 years. In performance of company operations, I will strive to avoid actions that would be embarrassing to my predecessors.

　　I should note that my life to date as not necessarily been smooth sailing, as I have met with failure any number of times. However, I believe that, through these failures, I have become what I am today. What is important is that, after the failure, I did not feel downcast, but instead learned a lesson that I then applied to the next challenge. I am thankful for failure.

　There is nothing in this world that is completely useless. I believe that, within every event that happens in this world, there is meaning. I have come to believe that what is important is the impression gained, learning from it, and taking action. In future, I look forward to a corporation that continues advancing and growing, together with the executives in my own generation, and also with all company employees from the young ones to the veterans. Since we currently have an assemblage of young members, we may on occasion see some failures occur. However, with an always enthusiastic, forward-looking attitude, we can proceed without fear of failure, learn from those failures and, without giving up, win out in the end.

　I want to create a company where colleagues are laughing together, sharing days of brightness and gloom, with times also of extreme difficulties but also of fun that end in success. But even with success, we should not let this go to our heads, but instead press forward one step at a time. I ask for everyone's continued patronage and encouragement, as we have seen to date.
